The formal establishment of the university was approved in May 2022, with the primary mission of providing quality education to the northwestern states, addressing educational disparities between northern and southern Nigeria, and promoting innovation and entrepreneurial skills in education.

Applicants must have a minimum of 5 credits in the O' Level Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations (SSCE/GCE) in a maximum of two sittings.
A minimum of 140 on a scale of 400 in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) /JAMB score.

- Fill out the online form with your complete name, date of birth, phone number, email, nationality, marrital status, physical address and your next of kin details. Then click the Next button.
- In the next button you will be required to fill your previous education details wich include the name of secondary school you attended, year of graduation, and then upload a cleared O’Level results, Primary Certification, birth Certificate, Nimc and your indegene. After that click the next button.
- The next section is for you to fill the course you want to study, you will be required to fill your First choice of study and second choice of study.
- The last but not the least is to fill the declaration form which says By clicking 'I agree,' you're saying that all your information is correct and giving permission for Northwest University Sokoto to use your data for school purposes. The you mark it and press the "Send message button".
- Waiting for Admission: When the admissions decisions are released, you will be notify to go to the school portal which is www.nwus.edu.ng, and check your admission status. If you are successful then you Accept the admission by logging into the student portal and do the necessities.
